DDC Basic Reactive
Students learn the basic principles and applications for
using a handgun as a defensive tool.
More Details: A DDC
original firearms course is approximately 5hrs in
length with an ammunition requirement of 250 rounds (.380 caliber
minimum). Students are expected to have previous firearms
experience therefore this course is largely comprised of live fire
exercises with limited classroom instruction. Students can expect
to learn the fundamentals and basics of:
Safety, mindset, pistol anatomy/function, grip/recoil management,
trigger control, sight alignment, shooting positions, the draw,
magazine changes, clearing malfunctions, shooting unsupported with
either hand, shooting around cover, and shooting on the move.
In order to attend this DDC Basic Reactive
students must be able to provide proof of previous experience. Such
proof may include certificates for NRA Basic Pistol, other DDC
firearms courses, IDPA Classification of MM or higher etc.
Upon completion students will receive a certificate* authorizing
them to attend the DDC Advanced Reactive
DDC Advanced Reactive Gunfighting-Handgun
(prerequisite: Basic Reactive Gunfighting-Handgun
Students learn advanced principles and applications for using a
handgun as a defensive tool.
More Details: A DDC original firearms course, this course is
approximately 5hrs in length with an ammunition requirement of 350
rounds(.380 caliber minimum). Students can expect to learn more
advanced defensive handgun techniques such as:
Safety, mindset, refresh the fundamentals, a focus on shooting
rapidly/accurately single handed, shooting positions including
urban prone, dynamic movement, shooting from cover, a focus on
point shooting, and an intro to active shooter response.
Students who finish the course to the instructor’s satisfaction
will receive a certificate of completion*.
DDC instructors reserve the right to
withhold issue of certificates to students they feel need further
instruction before advancing to the next course level. DDC will
offer private instruction at a discounted rate to any student who
needs further instruction. This private instruction may result in
the student being issued said certificate retroactively.
